STAY CURIOUS with BESETdurban
As you know we are HUGE lovers of Durban, and we know you are too, so lend us your ears and lets stay curious about this city together. In social science, the term built environment refers to the man-made surroundings that provide the setting for human activity. Basically the world as we have made it. But how the heck does this tie into anything and what exactly are we on about. Well it all starts with BESETdurban. "In many ways BESETdurban is an experiment that has become a movement. There exists a common misconception that the small port city of Durban at the southern tip of Africa is sleepy, backwater and generally unappealing. Our intent, our goal, our mission was to have this notion corrected, even destroyed. Our aim was to have it replaced with a more true, more exciting notion, that Durban is worth exploring." And that is exactly what BESET do. They aim to host FREE walks every 6 - 8 weeks with expert speakers talking about everything and anything to do with the built environment of Durban. From the thinking behind the markets of Warwick and how the architecture was is designed to connect people, to the stories of our Durban beach fronts and the effect the coffee revolution has had on how people interact and LOADS more. It's about exploring, learning and engaging with our city. If you want to be a part of it all, all you need to do is STAY CURIOUS. Get involved. Join the walk. Oh...and it's probably a good idea to join their mailing list so you know when the next one is happening. So click HERE to join the list (you'll see the sign-up form at the bottom of the page) or follow BESETdurban on any of the links under the groovy pic from one of their last walks. Little bit of inside info the next walk is taking place this Saturday the 24th September so sign up quick to ensure you are in the loop. Righteo that's it from us, you stay classy and we hope to see you at this weekends walk. Regards, Team ID |
